Saudade de Casa - Homesickness

In this deeply personal photographic essay, I explore the essence of Carnival

2024 through a unique and introspective lens. Living in Italy at the time, I felt a

profound sense of saudade—a longing for Brazil—while watching the vibrant

celebrations unfold on television. Using my Canon 5D Mark III set to a slow

shutter speed, I captured the dynamic energy of Carnival in a way that

transforms the familiar into the abstract. The resulting images are a blend of

motion, light, and color, reflecting both my nostalgia and the undeniable

brasilidade (Brazilian spirit) that defines Carnival. This project is not just a visual

experiment but a heartfelt expression of my connection to my roots, even from

afar. The photos, almost abstract in nature, invite viewers to feel the emotion

and cultural richness of Carnival through my eyes.
